Our 2022 Corn Maze

The sound of a baseball meeting a bat and the roar from the people in the stands can bring back many happy childhood memories.  Porter has their own baseball legend that took those childhood memories straight through the baseball major leagues.

Frank Linzy, a 1959 Porter graduate, was one of eight children born to Fred and Hila Linzy on September 15, 1940 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.  The Linzy family moved to Porter and Frank became a Porter student in 1946.

While at Porter, Frank’s main focus was basketball, playing for Mr. Harold Doty.  Frank also enjoyed basketball and was an All-State selection in both sports, but Mr. Doty’s connection with Henry Iba led Frank to attend Oklahoma A&M to play basketball instead of signing to play professional baseball after his senior year of high school.

After a fall semester in Stillwater and a spring semester at Northeastern in Tahlequah, Frank signed with the San Francisco Giants.  After three minor-league seasons, Frank made his major-league debut in 1963.  His 10-year Major League career included seasons on the mound with the Giants, Cardinals, Brewers, and Phillies.

Frank finished his MLB career with a 62-57 record, a 2.85 ERA, 110 saves, and one career home run at the plate.  He ranks ninth on the Giants’ all-time saves list.  Frank married Elaine Satterfield, a Porter girl, in October 1962.  They raised three daughters, Andrea, Beth, and Jennifer, on the hill where Elaine was born.  Frank and Elaine have six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Frank still enjoys a good game, fishing and gardening.

Come navigate our “2022 Frank Linzy Baseball Corn Maze”.  This four acre corn maze offers two challenge levels:

  • a shorter maze for young children to enjoy with their parents and grandparents
  • a more challenging, larger maze

The maze will be open to the public on weekends only, starting the last weekend in September through October weekends and also during Fall Break Days, Oct. 13th, 14th, 20th & 21st, 2022. Combo Ticket is required for this activity.

Spookley the Square Pumpkin Story in our Haybale Maze The "Official Spokes-Pumpkin" for Bullying Prevention!

Here at Livesay Orchards, our Spookley Storybook Trail is a walking path in our haybale maze where you and your children can read Spookley’s story.

It presents a great way to get your children moving and engaged in the story while reinforcing the learning opportunities presented in the “The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin.”

We believe each child is created special and unique by God and this story reinforces that we are not all alike but we are all special and should not be bullied.
